IBC 2025 was buzzing with talk of AI, remote collaboration, and the future of cloud workflows. Against this backdrop, Storj came with a simple but powerful message: it’s time for a new kind of cloud — one that’s open, globally distributed, sustainable, and built for the modern realities of media production.
And the message resonated — Production Cloud was honored with a TVTech IBC 2025 Best of Show award, recognized as one of the most innovative technologies at the conference.
From the show floor to podcasts, others were talking too — including Justin Dawson, who featured Storj on the All Things TechIE podcast. Listen to the episode here.
So what is Production Cloud?
At its core, Production Cloud is a seamless media production platform designed to cut costs, accelerate production pipelines, and enable global collaboration. It brings together three core technologies:
- Distributed Storage — high performance, globally distributed, regionless, and sustainable at its core.
- Object Mount — mounting object storage on your desktop like a hard drive, letting you work directly from your archive with no proprietary formats.
- Compute — bringing real-time rendering, transcoding, or AI workloads right to your media in the cloud.
Together, they transform cloud storage into a true high performance production platform — a cloud media hub that serves as the single source of truth for ingest, editing, collaboration, distribution, and beyond. Media teams can drag and drop content into a mounted bucket, stream and edit directly from the cloud, and render back without ever leaving the workflow.
Plug-n-play production cloud apps.
One of the biggest takeaways from IBC was seeing Production Cloud in action, not just through Storj’s own demos, but through the ecosystem of partners already plugging into it. From asset managers to orchestration engines, these apps demonstrated how an open platform can be extended and adapted to any workflow.
Here are just a few highlights from chats we had on the IBC floor with our growing ecosystem of partners — you can check out the full list of apps here: storj.io/partner/library.
Iconik
“Storj’s decentralized approach gives our users cost-effective, scalable, and sustainable storage.” – Iconik team
Iconik is a flexible media asset management platform that plugs directly into Storj, giving teams a unified pane of glass for organizing, searching, reviewing, and approving content. With new synchronized review features, it’s powering next-level collaboration on top of Production Cloud.
Axle Ai
“By combining Axle AI’s media management and AI-driven metadata tagging with Storj’s Production Cloud, teams can organize, search, and collaborate on content no matter where they are in the world.”
Axel AI brings AI-powered search and media management directly into Production Cloud, making it easier for creative teams to tag, organize, and collaborate on massive archives.
Beam Transfer
“With the Storj network’s massive parallelism under the hood, we’re transferring files at 10 Gb/s without the usual hassle — that’s the kind of speed and simplicity media teams need.” — Jordan Maltby, Beam Transfer
Beam Transfer is built on the Storj network, giving media teams a faster, more secure way to ingest and move massive files globally. With checksum verification, real-time visibility, and a distributed edge network, Beam makes high-speed ingest seamless — right into Production Cloud.
Ad Signal
“We fingerprint every frame to find duplicates, reduce storage needs, and even cut carbon footprint.” – Ad Signal team
Ad Signal helps media companies clean up ballooning archives with AI-powered deduplication and fingerprinting — saving cost, reducing storage sprawl, and aligning with sustainability goals.
Cutting room
“We used to call it lightweight editing. Now it’s just craft editing — in the browser.” – Cutting Room team
Cutting Room enables full professional editing in a web browser, complete with color grading, effects, and transcript-based editing. With Storj as the backend, editors can upload once, collaborate globally, and work directly from Production Cloud.
Hedge
“S3 should just work like a hard drive — and with Storj, it does.” – Paul, Hedge
Hedge is known for simple, powerful apps that remove complexity from workflows. Their OffShoot integration with Storj brings checksum-verified transfers into the Production Cloud, making on-set to archive workflows seamless and reliable.
Ortana
“It’s like changing the wheels on a bus without stopping the bus — and Storj helps us do it.” – James, Ortana
Ortana’s Cubix orchestration engine connects on-prem and cloud workflows, with over 160 integrations. By pairing with Storj, they make migrations smoother, provisioning faster, and hybrid workflows more flexible.
Truenas
“We’re not just a Storj partner, we’re a Storj customer. Our own software distribution runs on Storj.” – TrueNAS team
TrueNAS provides turnkey storage solutions across file, block, and object. Their integration with Storj adds disaster recovery and global distribution — helping media companies keep data safe and accessible no matter what.
GB labs
“Put it in London, pick it up in New York with the same performance — and that’s what everybody loves.” – Matt, GB Labs
GB Labs combines high-performance on-prem storage with their Nebula cloud solution, powered by Storj. The hybrid approach gives editors and colorists the speed they need locally, while freelancers and remote collaborators connect globally with equal performance.
More than just the booth.
IBC wasn’t all demos and panels. Storj also joined Bunny.net for the IBC Charity Run, hitting the pavement with peers from across the industry. It was a great way to connect outside the conference halls and share the spirit of community that makes events like IBC so special.

And of course, no IBC is complete without connecting with our community outside the show floor. Storj hosted a fantastic evening at Strandzuid Waterfront, bringing partners, customers, and friends together for great food, drinks, and conversation.

What’s next.
IBC made one thing clear: Production Cloud isn’t just a vision — it’s here, it’s working, and it’s growing fast through our partner ecosystem.
