Storj just announced the Production Cloud, which combines Storj’s high-performance distributed object storage and Object Mount cloud media access into a unified media solution. But that is just the tip of the iceberg of new product releases and model improvements that are changing the way the cloud can be used. From expanded storage options to introducing compute capabilities, these changes ensure Storj continues to meet the growing demands of today’s media production teams. Here’s a breakdown of what has been added to the platform.
1. New expanded Distributed Storage tiers for media workflows.
Storj has redefined storage for media workflows by launching new tiers that cater to global collaboration, regional, compliance, and archival needs, delivering exceptional performance and scalability. This enhancement positions Storj as a direct competitor to hyperscaler offerings.
In fact, a recent performance test performed by Integrated Digital Solutions found that Storj and AWS S3 were the only object storage providers who delivered consistently fast performance around the globe. Wasabi and Backblaze performance was so volatile across time of day and region that the report recommended not using them for anything important to the business. [view report analysis here]
2. Work directly from the cloud with Object Mount.
Imagine working directly from the cloud with no proprietary systems blocking your workflow—it’s now a reality with Object Mount 1.0. Object Mount offers production teams high-speed access to cloud-stored media, enabling direct integration with editing, post-production, and live workflows.
Object Mount works with any S3-compatible object storage, like AWS S3 and GCP, but is now also optimized to work incredibly fast with Storj’s distributed infrastructure. Object Mount ensures seamless file ingest and access, but more importantly, it enables post-production teams to work directly from the cloud.
The new Production Cloud offering is big news for production teams who want to work from the cloud without paying hyperscaler prices. The Production Cloud brings Storj’s new high-performance Global Collaboration tier of storage together with 10 licenses of Object Mount at a low cost per TB price point, eliminating fees for APIs and egress. It’s perfect for fast-paced environments like news, sports, and post-production that work with remote team members.
3. Introducing Cloud Compute for media production.
Storj already provides access to high quality GPUs for AI, but now Storj is adding compute capabilities for media production to the platform, giving you access to powerful, flexible GPU and CPU resources for tasks like transcoding, rendering, and video editing.
With Storj cloud compute, you can eliminate storage-to-compute egress fees and reduce latency, making high-performance workflows more affordable and efficient. It’s an ideal solution for media teams looking to accelerate production cycles while keeping costs in check. Stay tuned for updates as this feature is expanded during its beta phase.
4. Simplified pricing for predictable costs.
Storj customers and partners have asked for expanded storage offerings, purpose-built to meet the demands of today’s workflows, alongside a simplified fee structure for more predictable billing. Effective November 1, 2025, Storj is introducing a new pricing model that eliminates segment fees and includes egress in the global tier. This streamlined structure ensures more predictable costs, making it easier for you to manage your budget and plan ahead. Explore new pricing here.
5. Enterprise-grade security validated with SOC 2 Type 2 certification.
Security is a top priority, and Storj is proud to announce SOC 2 Type 2 certification for specific storage offerings. This reinforces Storj’s commitment to delivering enterprise-grade security and privacy, so you can trust your data is safe and accessible.
