The global demand for cloud infrastructure is accelerating at an unprecedented pace. AI workloads alone are putting pressure on storage capacity and operating costs across the entire industry. Growing demand for data sovereignty and geographic distribution is adding additional pressure on global infrastructure. These trends directly impact the cost of delivering reliable, globally distributed storage.
At the same time, Storj has been evolving its distributed cloud platform by offering products that work together to power a wide range of workflows. The new pricing and tier structure reflect real-world usage patterns, simplifies billing, and unlocks new capabilities like Object Mount, which Storj now provides to every Storj Object Storage customer to stream cloud files directly to their desktop.
These changes position Storj to continue delivering enterprise-grade performance and availability while keeping pricing significantly below alternatives.
New pricing and tier options go live for new customers and projects on July 1st, 2026.
Yes. The pricing outlined in this announcement takes effect on July 1st, 2026 and supersedes the previously announced November 1st, 2026 changes. This is now pricing structure going forward.
Unless you have a negotiated contract with specific pricing terms, the new pricing will apply to your account beginning July 1, 2026. If you are on a custom contract, your account team will reach out to discuss any applicable changes.
Storj Object Storage is now offered in two tiers:
The previous Global Collaboration tier has been retired and is no longer available. Existing customers on that plan will be transitioned to the Standard tier at the new pricing.
These transitions will take effect automatically. No action is required on your part.
Storj is constantly evaluating and optimizing our network to keep egress costs as low as possible for our customers. The previous 1x free egress allowance for Regional Workflows (Now Advanced) has been replaced with a simplified, lower per-TB egress rate across both tiers.
The new pricing structure allowed us to reduce egress on the Standard tier from $20/TB to $7/TB. For the Advanced tier (formerly Regional Workflows), egress is now $7/TB.
This approach gives customers clearer, more predictable billing.
Yes. These have not changed. There is a 50 KB minimum per object. Objects under 50 KB are billed as 50 KB.
No. Segment fees have been eliminated in previous price changes.
Objects have a minimum storage retention period of 30 days. If you delete an object before 30 days, the remaining portion of the 30-day period is charged as an early deletion fee at the same storage rate for your tier. A minimum storage retention does not apply for customers using Object Mount with Storj Object Storage.
Yes. Effective July 1st, 2026, the minimum monthly fee for Storj Object Storage accounts increases from $5 to $50. The minimum fee is not a usage credit. It is a floor on your monthly invoice. If your usage in a given month is less than $50, you are charged $50. You do not receive additional storage or egress in exchange for the difference. The minimum fee applies as follows:
• If your total usage for the month exceeds $50, no minimum fee is charged.
• If your total usage is less than $50, you are charged $50 for that month.
• Accounts paying with STORJ token are exempt from the minimum monthly fee.
• Accounts on custom or negotiated contracts are not subject to the standard minimum fee. Your account team will communicate any applicable terms.
• The minimum fee does not apply during the free trial period. It takes effect at the start of your first billing cycle after the trial ends.
• Accounts with a $0 balance at the end of a billing cycle and no active storage will be suspended after the grace period expires. Free trial accounts are excluded from this.

Storj will automatically add sales tax for applicable products in the United States for customers in states where Storj has established business nexus.
Object Mount allows you to mount Storj buckets or any S3-compatible object storage as a local file system on your desktop. It supports direct reads and writes, partial file access, and high concurrency. It is ideal for editorial, ingest, review, and AI workflows where you need to work with cloud files as if they were local.
Every Storj customer receives two free Object Mount licenses with their account.
Object Mount is offered in three tiers:
• Free 2 licenses included with every Storj Object Storage account. No additional cost. Works with Storj storage only.
• Pro ($29/license/month) For teams that need more than 2 licenses. Each paid license includes 500 GB of Storj Object Storage as a billing credit. Works with Storj Object Storage only. Egress charges of $7/TB per month still apply. Please reference Storj Object Storage pricing for per TB costs. Additionally, Storj charges a $50 minimum storage fee. You must maintain at least $50 in storage costs per month in order to access your free 500 GB of storage.
• Any S3 ($39/license/month) Use Object Mount with any S3-compatible storage provider, including AWS, GCP, Backblaze, and others. Includes a 30-day trial for customers who want to bring their own storage. After the trial, users convert at $39/license or migrate their storage to Storj Object Storage to access Teams pricing at $29/license.
Any Storj Cloud tier requires an active Storj Object Storage account. The 2 free Object Mount licenses are included as part of that account.
Each paid Object Mount license (using Storj object storage) includes 500 GB of Storj Object Storage as a billing credit. This is not a hard storage limit. It is deducted from your metered storage charges at the time of invoicing.
For example, if you purchase 3 paid licenses, you get 1.5 TB of included storage. Any storage beyond that is billed at your tier rate. The credit applies to storage charges only and minimum storage fees as referenced in the storage and object mount section of this document.
Object Mount licenses are granted at the account level and apply to all your projects and buckets. If you have multiple projects, your Object Mount licenses will work with them. You do not need separate licenses per project.
The two free licenses are per account, not per project. Paid licenses also float at the account level.
Yes. The Any S3 tier ($39/license/month) supports AWS, GCP, and other S3-compatible backends. New customers who want to try Object Mount with their existing storage provider can start with a 30-day trial. After the trial, you can continue at $39/license or migrate your storage to Storj and drop to $29/license on the Teams tier.
Object Mount is available for Windows and macOS. Linux support is available, but is not included in the free trial at launch.
Production Cloud has been discontinued as a bundled offering. The individual components that make up Production Cloud, including Object Storage and Object Mount, are still available as stand-alone products. Customers who need both can purchase Object Storage at the Standard or Advanced tier rate and add Object Mount licenses separately. This gives you more flexibility to size each component to your actual usage rather than committing to a fixed bundle.
When you purchase paid Object Mount licenses and use Storj Object Storage, each license includes 500 GB of storage as a billing credit. At the time of invoicing, the credit is applied to your metered storage charges. You will see two line items on your invoice: the included storage at $0, and any usage beyond the included amount billed at your tier rate. You must maintain a balance of $50 for your Storj Object Storage account. Your included Object Mount licenses will be activated by Jul 1, 2026.
The credit is applied to the highest cost storage first. If you have projects with both Standard ($7/TB) and Advanced ($10/TB) storage, the included storage credit covers your Advanced usage first, then any remaining credit applies to Standard usage.
For example, if you have one paid license (500 GB credit) and your account has 400 GB of Advanced storage and 200 GB of Standard storage, the credit first covers the 400 GB of Advanced usage, then covers 100 GB of Standard usage. You only pay for the remaining 100 GB of Standard storage at $7/TB.
Yes. The 500 GB credit offsets storage charges only. Minimum file size fees (50 KB minimum per object) and minimum retention fees (30-day retention) are metered independently. These charges still appear on your invoice regardless of whether your storage volume falls within the included amount.
If you were expecting changes based on the previously announced November 2026 timeline, those changes no longer apply. The pricing outlined here takes effect July 1st, 2026 and replaces all previous pricing announcements. This is the definitive pricing going forward.
Your account will be automatically mapped to the new tier structure based on the transition table above. Global Collaboration moves to Standard. Regional Workflows moves to Advanced. Active Archive moves to Standard. No action is required on your part.
Your data stays exactly where it is. Nothing moves. The only thing that changes is the tier name and rate applied to your usage going forward.
Billing for the new pricing will begin at the start of the next billing cycle after July 1st. Your invoice will clearly reflect the new tier names and rates.
Customers with negotiated contracts are excluded from automatic migration. Your account team will reach out to discuss any applicable changes and transition timing. Your existing contract terms remain in effect until your account team contacts you.
For new projects created after July 1st, each project must be either Standard (global) or Advanced (regional). You cannot mix placement types within a new project. If you need both, create two projects.
For existing projects that already contain both global and regional buckets, we will continue to support that configuration. Each bucket within the project will be billed at its respective tier rate. Global buckets are billed at the Standard rate ($7/TB) and regional buckets at the Advanced rate ($10/TB).
Yes. Storj will send notifications leading up to the transition, including emails, console banners, and outreach from account teams where applicable. You will have time to review the new pricing and understand how it applies to your account.
Yes. After July 1st, your dashboard and invoices will reflect the new tier names (Standard, Advanced) and updated rates. All references to legacy tier names (Global Collaboration, Regional Workflows, Active Archive) will be removed from the platform.
All customer accounts are transitioned automatically on July 1st unless they are on a custom contract or special terms. Resellers/partners should communicate the new pricing terms with their Storj account team. If you have questions about reseller-specific pricing, reach out to your channel manager.
No. Your data remains safe and accessible throughout the transition. Nothing is moved or modified. The only change is to your tier assignment and billing rates.
Yes. Object Mount works with any bucket in your Storj account, regardless of when the bucket was created or which tier it is on.
Reach out to Storj support or your account team. They can help you review your current usage, understand how the new tiers map to your workflows, and identify the best configuration for your needs.
