Storj is evolving from a standalone object storage provider into a distributed cloud platform, offering a suite of products that work together to power end-to-end workflows instead of operating in silos. The new pricing and tier structure reflect real-world workflows, simplify billing, and unlock new capabilities like Object Mount and Compute. These changes are designed to improve performance, predictability, and workflow fit.
Storj has launched Object Mount (file system access to object storage), introduced Compute (co-located CPU/GPU nodes), and added new storage tiers tailored to collaboration, regional workflows, and active archiving. These additions enable low-latency editing, AI-native workflows, and cost-effective long-term storage—all without egress fees in most tiers.
New pricing and tier options go live for new customers and projects on November 1, 2025. Existing projects created before November 1, 2025 will remain at legacy pricing for 12 months, through October 31, 2026.
Global and Regional tiers include 1× free egress per month (equal to stored data volume). Active Archive does not include free egress and bills outbound traffic at $0.02/GB. Overage over the included egress is billed at $0.02/GB on Global Collaboration and $0.01/GB on Regional Workflows.
Egress over the included amount will be shown on invoices after November 1st, 2025.
Yes.
Usage due to object size minimum will be included on invoices after November 1st, 2025.
No. Segment fees have been eliminated across all new tiers, but will still apply over the next 12 months for users on legacy plans. Instead there are object size minimums that still are substantially less than the segment fee.
In the Active Archive tier, objects have a minimum storage retention period of 30 days. If you delete an object before 30 days, the remaining GB-month is charged as an early deletion fee at the same rate.
A $5 minimum monthly usage fee applies after the free trial as follows:

Storj will automatically add sales tax for applicable products in the United States for customers in states where Storj has established business nexus.
Object Mount allows you to mount Storj buckets or S3-supported Object Storage as a local file system. It supports direct reads/writes, partial file access, and high concurrency—ideal for editorial, ingest, review, and AI workflows.
Object Mount is purchasable with per-user licenses at $75/month paid annually with no storage minimum.
Yes. Object Mount supports AWS, GCP, and other S3-compatible backends. See section 5 for a pricing bundle when using Object Mount with Storj Object Storage.
Production Cloud bundles Object Storage and Object Mount into a single, $40 per-TB monthly price paid annually. It includes 10 seat licenses and no egress or API fees—designed to simplify costs while powering end-to-end production workflows. Starts at a minimum of 20 TB.
Each Production Cloud bundle includes a set number of user licenses. Licenses are named-user licenses, but additional licenses can be purchased as needed at any time. Licenses can be removed at the time of annual renewal.
If you created a project before November 1, 2025, it will retain legacy pricing and tier behavior for 12 months—until October 31, 2026. This includes storage rates, egress allowances, segment fees, and object size thresholds under the original pricing.
No action is required. Your existing buckets are automatically kept at your current rate. You’ll continue to see legacy pricing reflected in your invoices and usage dashboard until usage starting November 1, 2026.
All legacy buckets will transition to the new tier structure. You’ll be prompted to select a tier (Global Collaboration, Regional Workflows, or Active Archive) based on your workflow needs. If no action is taken, Storj will default your project to the Active Archive tier.
Yes. Storj will send notifications leading up to the transition, including emails, console banners, and outreach from the account team. You’ll have ample time to review options and make changes.
Yes. Starting November 1, 2025, you will have the option to migrate bucket by bucket to a new tier.
New accounts or projects created after November 1, 2025 will only be able to create buckets using the new tiers. Projects created before that date will at bucket creation be able to choose from legacy pricing or new tiers.
Not immediately. All legacy buckets under your projects automatically have legacy pricing. When you choose to migrate, you can do so bucket-by-bucket or project-wide. Storj is developing in-place migration tooling to simplify this process.
Users may opt to manually switch to new tiers by downloading from the legacy tier and re-uploading to the new tier, which may incur egress and storage charges. Storj is actively building tooling to support seamless, in-place migration without data movement or egress costs to do migrations.
No. New accounts and projects must use the new pricing starting November 1st, 2025. For existing accounts/projects the legacy period ends October 31, 2026. However, if you have a large deployment or contractual commitments, reach out to your account team to discuss transition options.
If you convert to a paid account and create a project before November 1, 2025, that project will maintain legacy pricing for 12 months. This is a one-time opportunity that will not be extended after that date. If you sign up for a free trial that extends past November 1, 2025, you still must upgrade before that date to have legacy pricing.
Yes. Buckets under legacy pricing will be labeled as “Global Legacy” in the console and on invoices. Pricing/tier is able to be chosen and reviewed during bucket creation.
Yes, if their projects were created before November 1, 2025. Resellers should communicate this to their customers and assist with migration planning as needed.
Yes. After October 1st, 2025, you can reach out to Storj support and account teams. They are equipped with workflow mapping tools and qualification guides to help you choose the right tier based on your usage, performance needs, and budget.
You’ll have a grace period to review the transition and request adjustments. However, once billing under the new tier begins, retroactive changes may not be possible and tier conversions may incur additional fees.
Yes. Notifications will be sent via email and console alerts.
No. Deleting a project after November 1, 2025 will result in the new pricing being applied. Legacy pricing is tied to the original creation date of a project.
Buckets on Storj cannot be renamed. Changing the name of a project does not affect its pricing.
No. Storj will default legacy buckets to the Active Archive tier if no action is taken. This is the lowest-cost tier, ensuring continuity without large unexpected billing increases. You can manually select a different tier if your workflow requires it.
Yes, you can mount legacy buckets within Object Mount if you purchase a license.
No. Production Cloud is built on the new Global Collaboration tier. As a result, new buckets created in Production Cloud will be billed under the new pricing.
Yes, but some features—like bundled egress, in-place migration, or compliance guarantees—may only be available on new tiers. Legacy buckets will continue to receive core platform support and updates.
No. Your data remains safe. The only change is pricing and tier behavior. However, performance, egress, and compliance guarantees may differ if you’re auto-transitioned to Active Archive.
Yes. You can use the detailed billing report in the Billing section of the console to retrieve usage data per bucket.
